The Journey From Waste to Forest
Phase 1
The Collection
ConneQt rallied volunteers to gather 3,200 kg of waste paper from our local network — blowing past the initial 2,500 kg baseline goal.
Phase 2
Turning Paper Into Funding
In partnership with Maureen from Kaspulkhan Scrap Metals and Chandaria Industries, we pulped the sorted paper, earning KES 64,800. Crucially, 100% of the proceeds were allocated to community projects — fully self-funded, no external capital.
Phase 3
Planting In Kajiado
With the funds secured, we headed to Kajiado to plant trees — restoring the land, sequestering carbon, and modeling a self-sustaining community model others can replicate.

💡 Why It Matters
This event proved a powerful thesis: communities already have the resources they need to create change. What looked like discarded paper was really untapped opportunity. By turning waste into wealth into woodland, ConneQt showed that impactful, dignified climate action doesn't require deep pockets — it requires connection, coordination, and a little optimism.
